‘This is a voice’ is a book written by G. Keyes, J. Fisher and S. Connor and released only a few years ago (2016). It is a very insightful read that guides you through the basics of singing such as breathing, placement and vowels. Most of the topics you’ll find in here are something we have most likely already mentioned or talked about in our lessons. However this book offers a variety of exercises to practice specific things as well as pictures and in-depth explanation. Another reason why I usually recommend this book to beginners and intermediate singers is because it is actually very well written; it does get into the science of things, but in a very simple and big-terms free way. This is a comprehensive guide on how to start taking your singing knowledge to the next level, or to get back in it if you haven’t sung in years. The book is available on Amazon (usually under £15) in hardcover and paperback formats.
