Hi everyone! Today I’m bringing some good ole sight-reading exercises to the table to keep your practice fresh and moving forward. Whilst I personally am not the biggest fan of super-duper intricate pieces from the classics, I do believe that a well-rounded singer and/or songwriter should be able to read and understand music on a very basic level at least. At the end of the day… this is still the language we all speak in action. And what I always find amazing is that music as a code transcends language barriers!
Attached below are two exercise papers that I created for beginners to wrap their brains around, and for intermediate/advanced to quickly use them as a refresh moment. I have not specified any tempo (bpm) for each exercise because as you all already know this might vary in terms of your current dexterity. But to give you an idea… let’s say it would be great to start at 80bpm and work your way up to 95/100 if you feel super confident. Have fun!
