Singing Lessons
Singing is much more enjoyable when it’s done right and it will allow you to keep your voice young and healthy! Whether you’re after a quick one-off refresher lesson or ongoing classes, Giacomo is happy to work to your requirements. Single sessions are great if you have an audition song you want to practice and perfect before the big day, while ongoing sessions are fantastic if you have a long-term goal in mind such as gaining confidence in your repertoire, strengthening weak spots in your range or picking up a new music genre.
There are a lot of taboos and misunderstandings in Pop music nowadays which is why Giacomo pushes himself even more in order to make his students aware that most of them are actually myths. He believes that a good singer doesn’t always mean a healthy singer, and this is why he is here for you. Giacomo has been working with all sorts of students and situations: from complete beginners that just love singing as a hobby, all the way to professional artists and performers featured on The Voice, Open Mic UK and many record labels. All first time students will receive a copy of his booklet ‘A Singer’s Handbook’ which he wrote specifically as an introduction to the art of singing, and as a recap for returning students.
Singing lessons format can vary to suit students’ needs and learning moments, however on a general level, a standard singing session features a recap/check-in, topic of the day, warm-up exercises, technical topics with exercises and a song workshop. Upon meeting you for the first time, Giacomo will go through a series of questions with you to get to know you better and understand what you are looking for, but if you do have any burning questions, please check out the FAQs section and see if you concern is listed there. If not, feel free to get in touch via email presenting your questions in context.
In these sessions you will: have the opportunity to learn about your instrument (how it works what to be mindful of), explore a variety of vocal techniques and approaches to suit your genre’s needs, gain an understanding of vocal effects, stylistic requirements for different genres, expand your musical vocabulary and create, refine, adapt and master different vocal exercises routines to keep you on track with your goals.
Songwriting with Giacomo
Songwriting sessions are great if you are currently navigating through the music world in search of your own artistic path, style and expression, or even if you are a beginner looking to start putting your own thoughts and vision into music. Giacomo’s extensive knowledge in all Popular music genres will allow you to explore different ideas and approaches to your craft. He will also be able to offer feedback on existing material you may have or help you lay down a completely new project. You will be challenged on different levels through a variety of creative writing, composition and arrangement exercises or tasks. According to the individual student’s level of music theory knowledge and skills, Giacomo may offer you to explore the basics of Music Theory alongside the creative writing path. In these sessions you will: explore and gain knowledge about the greatest songwriters and their most successful work, analyse and reflect on different types of musical content, composition and arrangement techniques as well as in-depth insights about your preferred genre(s).
*With songwriting being a very creative and personal discipline, Giacomo’s role will be the one of a guide and not a writer. Therefore even material produced by the student in his lessons will be 100% owned by the student/client.
Learning Music Theory
Music Theory is the doorway to understanding the language of music. This is how musicians from all over the world have been communicating for centuries, so it is important to know at least the very basics of it. If you are a complete beginner, these lessons will allow you to get to know this world of lines and dots in a fun and engaging way. Giacomo is aware that sometimes music theory can feel (and look!) overwhelming, and this is why he is ready to put a twist in his teaching methods ensuring content and activities are kept at high standards while having a good time. Some of the main elements you will encounter here are music sheet layout and elements, simple notation values, key signatures, concepts of tempo and beats, notes and scales and musical terminology.
For students more familiar with this subject, Giacomo is offering to bring life to the symbols on your staves and learn how to sight-read! You will learn how to perform written music (singing or playing on your main instrument) following given exercises that will feature all sorts of musical directions. You will also have the chance to learn about different scales, chord progressions and more advanced rhythmical patterns.
